Care &
Maintenance

A motorized pergola with open louvers shades a residential seating area in a large backyard with green grass.

A major benefit of Equinox Louvered Roof systems is how easy they are to maintain and keep looking beautiful.

Unlike other building materials, there is no need for expensive stains, treatments, or touch ups to keep your system looking good as new. In fact, natural rainfall is typically sufficient to keep its appearance clean. If further cleaning is required, we recommend following the instructions below.

Care & CLEANING instructions

Moderate Dirt

Occasionally washing with clear water using a garden hose and soft-bristled brush is recommended. A long-handled car washing brush is ideal for this purpose.

Heavier Dirt

Use the same method as you would for moderate dirt using the following solution: 1/3 cup detergent (e.g., Tide), 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (e.g., Soilax), and 1 gallon of water.

Caulking, Tar, etc.

Use mineral spirits in reasonable amounts. Apply directly to foreign substance and rinse thoroughly with water immediately after cleaning.

Black Streaking

Environmental Black streaking can also appear on unmaintained surfaces. This can be removed by using Gutter Zap 4, which can be purchased from the dealer who installed your unit.

Mildew

Mildew shouldn’t be an issue if your system is properly maintained. If mildew does appear, it is simple to remove using: 1/3 cup detergent (e.g., Tide), 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (e.g., Soilax), 1 quart sodium hypochlorite 5% solution.
